The Padel for All Association (ASPADO) has been working since 2004 on the social integration of people with disabilities through the practice of paddle tennis at the initiative of Maria de la Rocha, national president, a very active person and with a broad curriculum in it. sport.
Thanks to his drive and his demonstration that paddle tennis is a fantastic sport for everyone, schools have been created throughout these years in Madrid, Castilla la Mancha, Andalusia, Extremadura, Aragón…. and since the beginning of 2013, by the hand of Tinita Manrique in Castilla y León.
In this 2013, the first year of Aspado in Castilla y León, the pace has been frantic, 3 schools have been created, 2 for people with intellectual and physical disabilities in the standing mode and one for people with physical disabilities in the wheelchair mode, in total More than 40 people are already playing and having a good time following the example started by María and showing that Paddle tennis is a great sport.
Aspado CyL has also organized this year the IV National Wheelchair Paddle Tournament in Cubillos del Sil (León), bringing together the best chair paddles from all over Spain, giving an example of effort, perseverance and incredible improvement.
We also participated in the National Padel Tournament for people with intellectual disabilities in Madrid, displacing 15 boys who had a great time and competed at a good level, next year we swept away!
In the month of May we received a pleasant visit from HRH the Infanta Doña Elena to our school, sharing a wonderful afternoon with all our children and encouraging us to continue with our work.
All this work encourages us to gain momentum and continue in 2014 with new openings of schools in different cities and more surprises that we will announce, all with the aim of integration, improvement, effort, companionship, fun ... that paddle provides us and helps us to develop.
